Couples Therapy and Family Concerns
As a couples therapist my approach is directive, offering specific advice and activities to improve communication and intimacy. I work with you to help you resolve the problems that are preventing you from feeling satisfied in your relationship.
If your child’s behavior is the problem, I act as a parenting coach giving you the tools necessary to put you back in charge of your child’s success. If you face the challenge of an adolescent who is either acting out, anxious or depressed, I will work with you and your teen to resolve the issues impeding their and your happiness.
Coping with Change and Stress
Often we find ourselves overwhelmed by what life brings us. I work with you to help you effectively navigate transitions such as divorce, blended families, job stress, the death of a loved one, illnesses, financial problems and the challenges of raising children. Sometimes all you need is a compassionate listener to support you as you go through your difficulties. Other times you need concrete solutions to make the necessary choices to improve your quality of life.
Bipolar Disorder and Depression
I have a particular interest in working with individuals with bipolar and depressive disorders. I focus on helping you understand the impact of depression or bipolar disorder, and help you and your family learn to cope with the challenges these disorders pose.
My Approach to Therapy
My personal style is casual and warm. I look to build on your strengths and engage you in finding the solutions to the challenges you face. My goal is to build a comfortable, safe atmosphere where we can work collaboratively on improving your wellbeing.
Biographical Information
I have been with Centers for Family Change since 1998. My other experience includes working in specialized schools and agencies. I received my Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois in 1987.
