Resolving Problems of Childhood and Adolescence
Does your child have difficulty following basic rules and expectations at home or school? Is your child failing to consistently complete school work? Have you noticed a “disconnect” between yourself and your child, is communication breaking down? My work as a therapist focuses on helping your child get back on track. I take a collaborative approach in my work with children and families. I will work individually with children and adolescents, often utilizing a cognitive behavioral approach to help address problems with self-esteem, anger management, and decision making. I also involve parents in the treatment process, helping parents develop more effective ways to help their children and adolescents. I not only help parents find new strategies to help their child, but work with the family to improve communication and strengthen cooperation.
Finding an Emotional Balance
It is all too common for individuals to suffer with issues of anxiety and depression. These problems can show up in many different ways, including sleep disturbances, anger outbursts and irritability, and a lack of interest in social activities. I provide support, guidance, and a safe environment where you can explore your problems, and develop more effective ways to cope with day to day stresses. I emphasize a Cognitive Behavioral approach in working with problems of anxiety and depression, helping you identify dysfunctional and negative thought patterns, and replacing these with more positive and realistic ways of thinking about yourself and the challenges you face in your life.
My Treatment Approach
I emphasize a collaborative approach in my work. I see myself as partnering with my clients and helping them to find more effective ways to resolve problems. I believe that therapy should provide a safe and supportive environment where you can openly examine your problems and find new and more effective ways to cope with the challenges that are often part of daily life.
