Women’s Issues and Adult Concerns
As adults we all experience times of significant change in our lives. The loss of a job, the death of a parent, or a child going to college can all elicit feelings of loss or grief. Relationship difficulties, care-giving, or financial stress can trigger or intensify feelings of depression or anxiety. I understand that change presents a new challenge for each person. This is true even when the change is a positive one, such as a job promotion or new addition to the family. I work with you to find ways that you can best respond to and grow from the changes in your life. I have a particular interest in working with women on negotiating and responding to the complex, and at times confusing, demands and pressures that we face in our lives. My focus is on helping you identify ways to respond to these demands and pressures that best fit your values and life situation. Finally, I work extensively with adults with substance abuse problems.
Adult ADD and ADHD
Dealing with ADD or ADHD as an adult can be highly stressful. As an adult, ADD/ADHD can affect your job performance, family relationships, and self-esteem. I work with you to: evaluate the impact of ADD/ADHD on all areas of your life; develop new ways of understanding and managing the challenges you face; and identify and utilize more effective coping skills, including an improved ability to communicate your needs and strengths to others.
My Approach to Therapy
I believe each person brings his or her own unique perspectives and abilities to the therapy process. I work to help you find ways to change and cope that make sense to you. I draw on variety of therapeutic approaches (including Cognitive Behavioral) in my work.
Biographical Information
I have over 15 years of experience working in a variety of mental health and substance abuse treatment agencies, including Rush Behavioral Health System and Hazelden, Chicago. I have experience working with individuals from a broad range of social and economic backgrounds.
